Back in 2020, with the world frozen by a global pandemic, we faced a sobering truth: not much had changed for those outside the bounds of traditional opera — countless talented singers were still without a stage, and many more eager listeners still struggled to reach those venues.

Galvanized, we decided to act in the interest of opera and the people who love it, and we started Hudson River Opera. That was the winter of 2020, with our artists initially singing into facemasks. Now in our fifth year, we continue to stage regular live opera at home in Washington Heights and beyond, featuring world-class talent and a world-class audience. Let’s do it together.
